Music is powerful and we humans often use it to commemorate important moments and relationships in our lives. Music can convey feelings and help tell a story—the good, the bad, and the ugly. Recently, in a community theater production of an interactive murder mystery show, I played a singing mystic who communicates her feelings and her psychic predictions by singing snippets of popular songs through the decades (Since the shows sold out so quickly, we have encore shows in August. So you still have a chance to see it!).
If you’ve been keeping up with me for a while, you know that I think our relationship with place has many of the same dynamics as our relationships with a partner. Previously, I’ve talked about the dynamics of the Side Place (link) and created a survey to help you uncover which of the six stages you are in with your relationship with your place (link to survey).
Having a love story with your place is important. And what’s a good love story without a thematic love song?
For me, my Place Match Love Song is about coming home for a lot of reasons. I left North Carolina with my life really just getting started. Only to return 10 years later more professionally established but personally starting over in many ways.
I needed to get to know my place again, and hoped it would welcome me back. Would the love still be there? (Gratefully, yes.) And as I travel, although I always enjoy seeing the new places my work takes me, there is nothing quite like the excitement and relief I feel to come home to the place I feel I belong.

You have my ultimate respect, for your success, and the hard work u have done to get there! My congratulations!
